Hey all,

Currently deciding on memory for a new build. Have a Haswell processor so looking to keep voltage at 1.5v.

I was just about to purchase this set:http://www.cclonline.com/product/73537/BLT2CP4G3D1869DT...

But suddenly saw these:http://www.memoryc.com/computermemory/ddr3ram/8gbgskill...

As far as I can tell they are exactly the same (same speed achievable at 1.5v, but the timings on the G.Skill kit are not as tight. I am heavily leaning towards the Crucial kit, especially given their low profile which will also be helpful.

Please could you kind folk offer some opinions on the matter!

Thank you,

The G.Skill would be my personal choice at 1866. They are both pretty low profile. May consider these also, it seems they hit 2133 pretty easy.

G.SKILL Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory Model F3-1866C9D-8GAB

They use the same Samsung chips the Ripjaw does....

Ahhh ok thanks. Why would you choose the G.Skill over the Crucial, even when it is C9 and the Crucial is C8?

I am just curious and trying to learn more about memory :p

I have never had a problem with G.Skill and they OC well. Don't get me wrong, both are good RAM and they both would serve you well. The higher in speed you go, the less the CL has an effect.

Would OC'ing it require increasing the voltage past 1.5v?
