I have a 46" Westinghouse LED 1080p tv about 2.5 years old I think the power block went in it so I purchased a 3rd party block. The specs on te back are exactly the same, except for one number, it says 1.8A instead of 1.5A and it won't work. I'm wondering if this means it wasn't the other block that went and if the tv is shot, or if I bought the wrong block??

The reason I thought it was the block is because went the tv wouldn't turn on after shutting off itself the block was extremely hot, though I burnt it out.

I have a new cord and block, how can I tell what's broken and what's working?? Really need the help.

Thanks!

The 1.8a number means that the replacement block has a higher current capacity than the old. That is fine. Plug the old block into the ac outlet and measure the voltage and which terminal is positive. If you get zero or less than the voltage marked on it then it is bad. Measure the new one to see if it works. If it does then the positive and negative terminal may be reversed from the original block. You can cut the wire and splice them so that the polarity is reversed.

Well the new block came with a new cord to go with it, so i plugged the cord into the block and it can go in 2 ways since its 2 rubber pronged not 3 but neither way will work..? Does this mean the tv is dead? I dont have a meer to test any of the cords

Hi
Make sure that the plug that goes into the TV is identical for both blocks.
If it is the round type of plug with a center pin make sure that the hole in the plugs is exactly the same as some of those plugs have different sized holes and if it is too big it may not be making contact.
