Hello all,

I'm a bit lost and I need some help. I am upgrading my GPU from a GTX 660 to a GTX 770 tomorrow. I am getting my system prepped for the new card; my current card takes a 6 pin connector and the 770 takes a 6 and 8 pin connector.

Now this is where I'm unsure; my PSU has a 6+2 (6 or 8 pin) connector "string". I don't know what the technical name is but what I mean is that the cable has 2 or 3 connectors on the same length of cable, in the same what that the PSU SATA connectors normally have 3 on the "string". Can you use 2 connectors on the same string to power the Graphics card or can you only use one at a time?

Thanks in advance :D.

Solution
You would think so but no it dosent work like that. It powers the same at both connectors. It supplies enough power to fill one, then fill the next.

Yeah thats exactly what I meant. I know this may sound a bit (very) dumb but doesn't all the power get used up after the first connector on the string? (Its especially dumb because I have two HDDs on the same string and they run fine :p ) Just want to be 100% sure first!!!

And Gate9er, I have a Cooler Master GX 650W PSU. I've already checked if I'll have enough power with the rest of my system and I will so its all good :D.
