High Socket Temps

Okay so I had an fx 8320 coupled with a gigabyte 990fxa-ud3 and was getiing drops in voltages, so i got myself a sabertooth 990fx but now im experiencing high socket temps. I had the cpu up to 4.6MHz at around 57 degrees and sockets at around the same, now i can only reach 4MHz before the socket temps go above 60 degrees and my motherboard utility is screaming at me :( all the setup is the exactly the same, cpu cooler & fans etc.

just need a few pointers and if anyone else has this chip and motherboard what are your temps on the socket?

Thanks :)

yeah, core temps are fine, around the same as the other board, so i guess thermal compound and the heat sink arnt the problem?

maybe you should try running the overclock with a smaller voltage offset. If you experienced drops on the old board you might have cramped up the voltage too high to compensate. otherwise i have no idea, since i dont believe that asus motherboards would suck that badly.

I tried that too, got it down a couple degrees, its at 1.357v now which is quite good, still shoots up under load though, around 16 - 20 degrees higher than the core at times.

tried re applying thermal paste again to make sure there wasn't too much on but no joy, switched a couple fans around to try cool the socket, still hitting 70 degrees under load, anyone got an idea as to what the problem is? heard good things about this board and it was supposed to be an upgrade from my old one, not down aha

No haven't spoke to anyone with the same setup, so that temps not bad for the socket? Just concerned it may damage the board as its warning me when it goes above 65.
