totaling around $1800..

this is my first computer build, designed for gaming. No overcloaking.
i picked harddrives/ ssd / optik drive based on rating system.
please let me know if there are compatibility issues or cheaper solutions. please

I have a i7 and a 780, I also have a power meter hooked to my outlet, I draw 350w max 80cpu, 250gpu, 20general system.
450w would work, I'd go 500w to be sure. And gpu's use more power than nvidia gpu's. If you go with one of theirs probably 500.
750-800 for sli/crossfire if that would interest you later on

I just put a build together in this same price range, but I did a few things differently.
I forwent the SSD as thier prices are still dropping and they would be easy to add in later.
Also I didn't see any normal storage drive in your build. 128 gb isn't a lot of space to store games, BF4 for example is 27gb before expansions.
For storage I would go with 2x1 tb 7200rpm drives in redundant array.
If you aren't planning on overclocking the motherboard is probably overkill. An ASUS Z87 - plus would do the job just fine (if you were after audio, a audio card down the road would be much better)
From those changes (-1 SSD, +2x1tb drives, and a less expensive motherboard) you would have ~ 150 more to spend on other parts.

With that 150 go with a gtx 780 over the 770. I have the superclocked acx from evga , and it destroys every game I can throw at it (~85fps BF4 ultra)
Gtx 770. 1536 cuda cores
Gtx 780. 2300 cuda cores

It is a huge difference and will make your computer much more future proof.

What kind of things will you be doing, just playing games and general MS usage, or will you be recording footage and then editing the videos?

If you are just going for gaming it will be overkill to get an I7, the I5 performs very similarly and for a much lower price. $235-240 saving you another $90.

When you couple this with MFBLO96's suggestion of dropping to a cheaper mobo (which I agree with) and going for the 780. You could get the 780 and keep the SSD and have both the SSD and a HDD. Or just a larger SSD, its up to you.

The PSU you have listed is an 850W, with this setup, unless you want to SLI later this is higher than needed. A 650 or 700W would suffice, saving a few more $$. If you want to leave SLI open as an option later, then the 850W will be just enough looking at other tom threads asking that question.

thanks guys for the great input! i purely picked I7, since i wont be building any new computer in a long term. are you implying I5 will suffice in a future run? and yes i will only be doing casual gaming here and there.
Would it be wiser to have cheaper motherboard, inferior cpu and less power but better graphics card? lets say gtx 780 or 280x or 290x?

Less motherboard and more graphics would be a good way to go, 150-175 is the best value range for motherboards.
