I'm looking to upgrade the system I built about 3.5 years ago. That's the last time I spent any serious amount of time researching hardware, so although I know the basics I'm outdated.

I could figure out a system from scratch, looking at what other people are building now, but I'm at least a couple years away from being able to afford a whole new system. So for now, I'm just looking for a little upgrade to put some pep back in my rig's step. The thing is, i'm unsure how my components - which were pretty good when they were new - stack up against what's out there now, and where I would see the most performance gain for the least amount of money. Should I upgrade the proc (and mobo?), graphics card, ram, or some combination thereof? Would a SSD make any significant difference?

My main use is 3D - Maya, Zbrush, 3Dsmax, XSI, photoshop, etc. While I do game on it, I'm most interested in seeing a performance boost for the 3D stuff. Ideally I'd like to spend $300 or less, though I can go a bit over if it would be really worth it.

Anyway, here's what I've got right now:

i7 930 LGA1366 2.8GHZ
Asus P6X58D-E
Radeon HD 5850
Gskill DDR3-1600 6x2 gb (12 gb total)
Seagate 7200 1TB sata2

So what should I upgrade, and to what specifically? Thanks in advance, any advice or tips appreciated.
