here are the specs for the build im doing right now:

-Corsair 400R Case
-i7-4770k
-4x 8GB CL8 DDR3-1600 (32GB)
-GTX 780Ti
-Samsung Pro 256GB SSD
-Samsung EVO 250GB SSD
-2TB 7200RPM HDD
-1TB 7200RPM HDD
-Corsair H100i Water Cooler
-6x 140mm fans
-EVGA 650W Gold-Cert

I do want to end up doing some very minor overclocking to the cpu and/or gpu and I've used a few psu calculators as well as checked some other threads to alleviate my worries but not all builds are identical so I wanted some knowledgeable feedback for my build. Is 650W enough? If not, would using an air cooler for the cpu and using 1 less HDD affect it in any way? Thanks in advance!

That build won't draw more than 550W at stock settings, but it could reach close to 600W when overclocked.

As you can see, it's best to keep the PSU at around 40-60% Load. If you push it to 90% load it'll generate more heat which is harmful on longer period.

What did those calculators show?

No, you won't gain more than 10W.

IMO a 650W gold cert PSU is enough, but it'd be better if you can take a +700W PSU so you can have a better efficiency, and therefore better lifespan of PSU and PC components.

I used the calculator from outervision and it listed a minimum of 558W and a recommended psu wattage of 608W. I'm just uncertain how accurate it is.

Really? Only close to 600W when OC'd? Wow, learning something every day lol. I assumed the gtx780Ti as well as the 8 fans, drives, and water cooler would be beyond 650W.

Since I haven't purchased the H100i or the additional fans but already purchased the psu, I was worried about having to stick with the stock cooler and less fans. I guess i'll find out either way once I complete it... Thanks for your input!
