A really dumb question

From previous questions that I have asked, I have decided to get either a Corsair CXM series CX750M or XFX PRO750W Core Edition. Can any of these run a Geforce GTX 660 Ti without any problems (Refer to specs on my previous threads)

Ok on to the real question.

Most Gaming PSUs I noticed has an on and off switch. Can I turn on my computer with the PSU switch off? <---this is the stupid quesion (I'm sorry if I am askin this)

Are there any Corsair, Antecs, XFX, or any Seasonic PSUs I can get that DOES NOT HAVE any powers switch like my default computer's psu?

Also, the Wattage I am looking for is 500+wattages and 30 or more amps on the 12v rail

Again I am sorry for this silly question I am asking

Both of these PSU's will run your 660 ti.
Now, those power supplies have the on/off switch, which opens or closes the power circuit, so your computer is able to harness electricity.
You have the power button on your case, which is wired with your motherboard.

I hope I explained everything to you here.

Jux, I get what you mean, somewhat. Well at least I know what to consider to buy for.

So you're saying that If I had the power switched to off on the PSU, I can still yet turn on my computer from the Power button on my case?

If the switch is off, the psu is not making any power. You cannot turn on the pc if it doesn't have any power.

I'm not sure if anyone makes a psu without the switch but I can't say I've ever seen one.

My default Asus M11BB-B05 computer doesn't have a switch for its factory psu (260 w) (that's why I want to upgrade it to put in the graphics card)

But, have you seen any of these really good brands that do not need a switch as I am very used to having to turn on the computer without flipping a switch :D

Yes that is true, but... Is there any PSUs out there on the market that don't have a switch? :D

I'm curious why you're worried about this switch. As I said, you turn it on and leave it on. It's possible that once on, you will never touch it again.

Both units are extremely overpowered for what you need with a single GTX 760. A quality 500w unit will be all you need unless you plan on adding a second card.

Personally I would look at the Seasonic G series 550w unit for that build. It's under $100 and 80 Plus Gold certified as well as being modular.

Of the 2 you listed the XFX is superior in every way to the budget Corsair CX. All XFX units are made by Seasonic.

All power supplies have an on/off switch on the back. Turn it on and never touch it again is what I do. If the computer needs to be without power such as to work on it or add/remove components you should unplug it anyway.

I fail the reading comprehension test tonight!

450 watts is recommended for a system with a GTX 660 Ti.

http://www.realhardtechx.com/index_archivos/Page362.htm

I still recommend the Seasonic G 550w model. There is no 450w model and quality units under 500 watts are quite often more expensive than quality units in the 500-650w range. Probably due to how many are produced.

There is a very good 450w XFX unit and the Antec VP450 is quite good although it's not 80 Plus certified at all. 80 Plus is only a measure of efficiency though not quality.

No worries mate, you all good

&

Yes I shall get one, but how come on the box of the GTX 660 Ti it came with, it says that I need at least minimum "500 watts and 12 v current rating of 30 amps or greater?"

Btw, I still have have a Thermaltake TR2 still here in my house? Should I test it out to see if it works or nay just return it since the bad reviews I had

The Thermaltake TR2 is trash. Literally one of the worst units on the market.

See here:

With a relatively low power system like yours a tier 3 or better unit would be fine by that list above. Tier 2 or up is recommended though. Where are you? The Seasonic G may not be such a value if you are not in the US and you might save some money by going another route. Jarhead to me is a US Marine but mate is UK or Aussie :)

What about the Corsair cx750m? Is that good to get for the gtx 660 ti? (Sorry if I keep repeating the same gpu name) xD

The Corsair CX line are budget units and a pretty big step down in quality from the Seasonic. However the 660 Ti is a fairly low power card and the CX would not be bad paired with it. The CX500 would be plenty though. I would not go with a CX if you plan on adding another card in Sli, not even the CX750. The M versions are just modular. Everything else is the same.

OK these are the best deals I see. They are the same $50 after rebate. The XFX is better quality electrically but the Corsair is not bad and is modular.

XFX Pro550w.

No I do not plan on doing SLI nor crossfire. So can I still go with my first choice or shall I get something cheaper like your suggested?

Your first choice being the CX750 or the XFX? Way more power than you need unless you just want to spend extra money and if that's the case get a higher quality unit with the wattage you need. The Seasonic G 550w is $85 on newegg and you will not beat it electrically for less money. Also all XFX units are made by Seasonic so they are all top quality.

But to answer your question any unit in this thread except the Thermalcrap will be fine for your system.

Yes!

But, for temporary, can I use the thermaltake in the mean time before the shipping comes in?

Do you think my graphics card would fry if I used this?

Also, how long is the shipping going to take from Newegg, or Amazon? I want it fast before the week ends :D
