Hi, Thanks for stopping in on my thread.

I need some help improving my system build!
Here is my current build(http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2tckc)

This is a top of the line gaming computer, In my opinion.
But do you guys have any suggestions on how to make it better or cheaper, while keeping the same performance?

Solution
I don't you really need a sound card in your build, the onboard audio should do the job for you well. Of course, if you really need the sound quality boost, then keep it.

You could also have a smaller SSD for OS and add on a separate HDD say 1TB to hold everything

Eh a lot of over priced parts that you can get similar gaming performance for cheaper, give me 5. I'll throw together a suggestion that might be a bit easier on the wallet. Here is the link for the case since pc parts doesn't show the sale on it.

You can step down to an 8320 and OC it just as well as the 8350, 8 gb of ram is more than enough for games as of right now and also use a 780 they run cooler and are cheaper right now. Until the r9 290 come back down in price and are released with after market cooler then I would not suggest them. If you really want a lil more powerful card use the 780ti but imo it's not worth the extra money

I went for a sound card, mostly because I like being able to hear everything in games! and like you said it provides a sound quality boost!

Im picking a 240gb ssd as my main, I have a external 2tb hard drive so there is no need.

Thanks for the time to make the build! Im just looking for more of a power house build. Im planning on overclocking my 8350. so the 8320, would not be able to match its power!

I like having more then 8gb of RAM(16gb preferably) But then I have more to mess around with, and it does give a slight performance increase!(Because my ram is clocked at 2400 mhz)

I thought about buying a GTX 780 Ti, but when compared to the R9 290X, it really isnt worth the 1% power increase and its 100$ more.

I have no need for a hard drive, because I have a 2tb eternal hard drive! so I am manning with the 240 ssd

Overclocking ram doesn't help on gaming you up the latency time by doing so.. but i agree with the 780ti, i would just hold off until the after reference coolers release. Those stock 290x are horrible, as for the 16 gb of ram the gains after not even 1 fps, sometimes you will find 16 gb of ram will lose 1 or 2 fps depending on the game. I would only recommend 16gb if you are editing or rendering.

But it is you ordering the rig, if your happy with it thats all that matters

get the cheapest SB with hardware decoding then, the hardware is all the same it's just the rubbish like the front panel connections that is the extra.

in that case get a cheaper mobo, there will be very little extra that you gain from a 250 mobo vs a 100-150 mobo.
