I have a HP Pavillion Model No. p7-1423w I replaced the stock power supply with a 600B 600W Bronze Power Supply. Windows 8

And installed a EVGA Geforce GTX 660 and have it powered by the new power supply.
When I connect the new graphics card Via DVI-D And I got no signal.

I was about to boot in safe mode and and disable on board graphics but this still did not work.

Any help would be appreciated Im nervous about this $320 investment if it doesn't work. Any ideas on what could help?

Similar symptoms can happen if the cpu's aux connector is not in all the way or the video card's power connectors are not in all the way. Ram not in all the way. video card not all the way down into the slot. Have you tried also reseting your bios?
You can tell if your computer is getting to post if your keyboards lights are lithing up and responding when you hit num lock/caps, hard drive lights blinking. If they are not then there is something critical not working correctly usually its just a lose power connector or a card is not in all the way.

check in the bios turn on muilt monitor support if it has it and see if the gpu turns on. if not contact hp see if there a bios update for that mb. I did not find any on hp main web page. with some cards and mb there can be bios bugs.

1 thing at a time. Take out the new GPU and try to boot the system with just the new PSU. When that works then install the GPU. Let us know how this progresses.

The computer does work if I take the GPU out and use the on board, and for my bios for whatever reason I see no options in the bios that could help, and I have checked numerous time that the connectors, ram are all in properly. Im starting to think windows 8 just doesnt detect the gpu could that be the case?

It does work without the new GPU in.
