Good Morning Everyone,

Just a quick question regarding my chip and recent overclocking endeavours.

I'm currently running the i5 4670k at 4.2ghz at 1.230volts and its stables as of 2 days with heavy gaming use. My heat is fine as well, highest I hit was 71C when stressing with intel tuning utility. During gaming loads I seen highest of about 67-69C. This is with an Evo 212 plus.

I was wondering if this was considered below average as I seen people claim they can get 4.4ghz or even 4.5ghz without going over 1.200 volts. I wanted to do a mild overclock not exceeding 1.300 volts and was hoping to get to 4.4ghz, however even at 1.300volts at 4.4ghz my system is not stable.

This is with leaving my ring/cache ratio at default (3.8mhz). Trying to increase that past about 4.0mhz or even get it close to 1:1 ratio causes instability. Did I just get unlucky?

I think you are average.

People will talk about high overclocks, but not so much if their results are not so good.

You got a 20% plus improvement for not much effort. Do you really need more?

No, even at stock I was fine with the performance I was just hoping I can get comperable numbers to what other have claimed.

It was my first time overclocking or building my own pc for that matter so I'm overall satisfied. Although its an 11% improvement (3.8ghz turbo to 4.2ghz)
