As the title says I am soon to be gaming on PC, and for the first time. I've dabbled in Civilizations and SWTOR and love strategy games, yes I would call an MMO a strategy game. I have $50-75 to spend on games. I was thinking of just back logging and getting Fallout 3, Skyrim, Borderlands 2..but since I've played all of those on console already I was thinking of trying something new.

Feel free to list your top ten or whatever..and they DON'T need to be new games. If it's worth playing feel free to list it. And I am willing ot pay 2 play so don't exclude those either.

I really enjoyed XCOM: Enemy Unknown. Another good one that is a little aged but still great is Rise of Nations. A REALLY fun one that is even older would be the Dungeon Keeper series. I've recently been playing the A mod of fire and ice (game of thrones mod) for Civ V. Great if you are a fan of Civ and GOT. Steam has it's winter sale going on right now so it is the perfect time to pick up a ton of games for cheap. But it ends soon!

And if you are new to PC gaming, Minecraft is a must. If you have played it only on a console, then you haven't really experienced all it has to offer.

Thank you Sylverac, I actually have played all of those games...excellent choices! the sequel to Rise of Nations (can't remember it's name) was my all time favorite in the genre, and continues to be to this day. It's funny you mentioned that.

@St0rm, it's funny I was paging through both of those links among others when the Tom's icon appeared on my chrome extension.

The critics all seem to have the same things to say about most games: they either are good and have gotten better, or were shite at launch and have changed to be playable..but they always end saying "it's worth it"

I can't wait for more fully voiced MMO's, it is what my brother and I have been clammering for ever since KOTOR 1 was released. I'm more of a develop your own story/create your own person kind of gamer, otherwise I probably would have stuck with consoles lol. Either way, thanks for the input guys.

I kind of want to leave the thread open for a while to see if we can get some back and forth between different people about the same games.
