Hi Guys,
i am trying to attempt this.
please give your views if it is feasible.?
items are are as follows
-3.5 HDD SATA
-PSU with SATA power connecter
-esata cable (one side is the L shaped sata port and the other is esata that fits to a esata port on a laptop.
-a dell studio1555 with a esata port.

so what i am attempting is that i want to install an os in the empty disk.
i will change my boot priority to cd drive,(will keep my laptop disk removed from laptop) and boot the CD. the HDD will be connected to my esata and powered bu the psu.
will my laptop detect it as a HDD while installing the os??

making a mining rig , and i do not want to buy a monitor for one time installation.
if i just could install os and configure Team viewer i would never need a monitor.
my ordered products are yet to be shipped.
will let u guys know it it worked out.

So this drive is going in a different PC after the hopeful OS install via eSATA?

That may or may not work. No way to tell if it will, until you try to boot it up. And even if it does..you may be chasing driver issues for quite a while.

Build the mining rig with that HDD, hook you current monitor, install the OS, move the monitor back...far fewer potential issues.

As said...installing via eSATA 'might' work. But when you move that drive to the new PC....that might not work.

i do not have a monitor...having a monitor would have solved the problem. anyways i have to try it once and see if it worked.
