gigabyte 78lmt-usb3 with 1600mhz ram?

Does the gigabyte 78lmt-usb3 support 1600mhz ram sticks like the corsair vengeance 1600mhz, it says only upto 1333mhz however I saw that people use 1600mhz with the motherboard?

The memory will work but it may work at slightly lower speeds, it will just downclock it.

That motherboard uses quite a old chipset which is likely the cause of it not supporting 1600mhz ram speeds officially.

The memory QVL lists 1GB CORSAIR TR3X3G1600C8D & 2GB CORSAIR CMD8GX3M4A1600C8.

I bought some GSkill 1600 to pop in mine, but used some Crucial 1333 instead ... no reason other than it was laying around - and the 250MHz system clock 'sweet spot'
