I have rebuild my PC:
- Asus P9 X79 mobo
- i7 4930K cpu
- 4x 8GB ddr3-1600 in A1-B1-C1-D1 slots

I am struggling to get graphics performance out of my system.
I have tried the Asus R9 290X and also have the GTX 780 TI to try out.

With the 290X it was reasonable but much less than I expected, about 30-40% more than with my old PC config with HD 5870 graphics, 1366 socket mobo, 12GB ddr3.

With the GTX780 TI I am getting even less fps. Something must be totally wrong somewhere.

With 4x cpu power, 4x gpu power, 4x Ram power I would expect at least 4x better performance than with my old system....

Maybe someone can drop me a help line... thanks.

Try to update both GPU and MB BIOS.

how do I update the gpu bios? It's out of the box.
Mobo bios is flashed with factory download.

Could there be a problem with the PCI Simple communications controller? I had a hard time getting a driver for this, kept giving an error in the Device Manager, but this error is gone. Can't find that controller in the Device manager.

It's either a bad board or some related system drivers are borked. Try reinstalling the chipset driver and run system file checker.
