My laptop is a few years old and runs windows 7. Everything works on it - except it will not connect to the Internet via wireless or wired means. It intially showed the wireless connect but said their was a problem with the network adapter for the wireless. Then the wireless adapter just seemed to disappear! I've run several full scans from a few diff downloads and there are no viruses, PUPS or other unwanted programs. The rest of the laptop works fine, it is just this issue. I can't seem to download a driver to put on a disk to work on that computer either - most fixes say I need to connect to the Internet which I can't do! Help?

First priority would be getting the wired port to run. Is the ethernet port onboard or does it have a NIC? If it is onboard then the driver should be on the motherboard manufacturer's website. If it is a NIC, you just need to google the model of the NIC for the driver. When you find it, download and save it to a usb drive. Then, put it in the non-functioning machine and save a copy on the LOCAL hard drive and run it from there. Run it buy right clicking and going to run as admin. If you can't see the LAN adapter under the network adapters section of the control panel after installing the correct driver, then it is probably a hardware issue.

Has it always been unable to connect to the internet or is this a new problem?
