Does anyone own or know about a good outdoor TV antenna system?

We installed one at Grandma's out in the country in OK and it needs to be replaced. She lives alone and needs something simple to operate. We just returned from a visit and I am looking to replace what she has. It is malfunctioning and never worked well.

Here are the issues I see:

1. She lives in the hills and reception is difficult
2. There are almost 30 digital channels available (2/3 have great reception)
3. The existing rotor is a basic stepper motor and base unit with a dial that is manually set each time you change channel. It uses a separate wire for the controller.
4. The antenna has to be turned to get the stations. That means you cannot auto-program all of the channels at once. You need a list of available channels and then turn the antenna and add a channel until the list is complete.
5. There is no attic space, it must go on the existing mast (I think).

It seems to me that there should be a better system available. We need something more automatic and simple to use.

First thought:

A. An antenna system that works with the TV to control the antenna as you change channels.
B. Channel flipping might be hard on this type of antenna rotor
C. The remote might work the antenna box and then the antenna box might change the channel on the TV with a led emitter.

Second thought:

A. A mast that does not rotate and has a few antennas mounted in different directions
B. How to connect multiple antennas into a single cable
C. Add a good omni-directional antenna on the top to get any stations in-between the directional antennas.
D. Use an array of directional antennas (maybe eight) to get all of the channels available.

Third thought:

A. How can you combine antennas.
B. Do the antennas need to be separate. Only one connected at a time.
C. Is there a device that can handle the multiple antennas and control the TV channels also with a remote.

It has to be simple for the user to operate.

Thanks for any help you can give.
