I have been using a 64 GB crucial ssd (with windows 8 installed on it) and a 1 TB WD HDD in my desktop for a while now. Last night I accidentally woke up the computer from sleep and almost immediately shut it off by holding the power button (I'm not sure if this is the source of the problem but its my best guess). Anyway now whenever I try to turn on the computer I get an error saying to insert boot media. If I go to the BIOS to manually choose the boot media, my HDD shows up (as does my dvd drive and card reader) but the SSD is no where to be found. I checked all of the connections, swapped ports/cables etc., I just want to see if my diagnosis is sound before I go out and buy a new ssd.
(Oh and as an after though, the only way I could run my computer off of my HDD would be if I backed up all of the files, installed windows and then restored them, right?)

So I tried this. Turned out it wasn't the windows dvd I put in, it was just a blank cd by mistake. More importantly the ssd showed up this time and ran perfectly fine. So I shut down the computer, plugged the HDD back in, turned the computer back on and the SSD wasn't there anymore. Unplugged the HDD (so it was in the same state as when it it was just working), but now it can't see the SSD again

EDIT: And now everything is working fine. I have no idea what was wrong in the beginning but I guess I'm all set now? Thanks for the help!
