Here is the build (roughly 650 dollar budget): http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2rMXi (ignore the ram section)

I am realizing now from what others have told me that the mobo listed there has some been giving people a lot of problems.

If someone could help me find another motherboard that won't bottleneck anything, and for around the same price I would really appreciate it.

Like I said, the rig will be primarily for gaming (BF4, The Division, GW2, AC4, newer games, etc.) with a goal of running them stable on high settings at least. Secondary focus would be a media center (streaming, netflix, etc.).

Thanks for the help guys.

You do definitely need a different motherboard

or
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asrock-motherboard-970extreme3r20

These both have the latest 970 chipset .

There are cheaper options , but they compromise a lot of features . Those two , especially the ASUS, are good solid products that should give long life and allow decent overclocking .
The limitation of the 970 chip set is that you can only use one graphics card , but for most people that is not an issue , and definitely not at this price point

Thanks for the input, man. Those are a little steeper in price than I hoped, so I feel have to ask first what your opinions on this board are:

If I have to, I will probably go ahead and get the ASUS you mentioned. What are the benefits of getting that ASUS over, say, the one I linked above?

I'm an hour away, so it would have be a good good board for a pretty good price for me to head up there. Any one in particular you were thinking of?
