I live in Canada and I am looking to do my first build in 10 years. I want it to cost around $800 after rebates and discounts. I want it mostly for gaming, movies, and internet.

I have a monitor, operating system, mouse and keyboard already. I have a toshiba 1tb drive I plan on using as a storage drive. I play games like mass effect, skyrim fallout and would like to get into some more 1st person shooters. Ultra high settings are not important to me I want it to run smoothly and look nice. I have a 1080p monitor, 24" from dell.

Here is what I have so far all priced out from canada computers (I will check around for savings but they seem pretty good). Any suggestions would be great as a bought my last few computers already to go but would like to do this. i do not plan on over clocking.

case zalman z11 $70
Power antec hcg-620m $70
mb asus h87 - plus $80
Cpu i5 4670 3.4ghz $200
Memory adata 2x4 8gb $70
Video asus gtx660 2gb $160
Dvd samsung 24x $20
Ssd san disk 256gb $160

Total $830

I was also considering skipping the ssd and getting a 2 tb drive plus better gpu.

Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: Intel Core i5-4430 3.0GHz Quad-Core Processor ($194.83 @ DirectCanada)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($69.99 @ Memory Express)
Storage: Kingston HyperX 3K 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($89.99 @ Memory Express)
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon R9 280X 3GB Video Card ($324.00 @ Vuugo)
Case: Zalman Z11 Plus ATX Mid Tower Case ($49.99 @ Memory Express)
Power Supply: EVGA 500W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($39.99 @ Memory Express)
Optical Drive: Samsung SH-224DB/BEBE DVD/CD Writer ($15.79 @ DirectCanada)
Total: $784.58

Downgrading to a i5-4430 won't decrease your performance, while still maintaining four cores. The Asus motherboard you mentioned is a phenomenal deal, so I would keep it. The G.Skill memory is faster (1600 vs 1300 Mhz) than the Adata for the same price. I would definitely decrease the SSD to 120 GB because although having a higher capacity allows more games on the SSD, the FPS of those games will be limited by the GPU. Use the savings from the SSD to upgrade the GPU to a R9 280X or a GTX 770. Either one will allow you to max the graphical settings on any games you play, whereas the GTX 660 won't.

Cases are subjective, so I kept the same design you liked. The Z11 plus is a newer version of the case you mentioned and is at a lower price (mail-in rebate). The Antec PSU has higher wattage and is modular, but if you're looking to save money, the EVGA at 500W will run your system just fine.

The total, including the $80 motherboard, comes to $865 for significantly better gaming performance.

Edit: Included the wrong SSD.
