I am in the process of building a computer, all i need is an ssd. I have heard good things about both of these, but I have an fx-8320, and have heard that the EVO is not compatible with it. So my two questions are: Would the Evo work on the AMD system, or should I go with the HyperX?
Thanks!

In which alternative reality did you hear that the FX-8320 would not work with the Samsung 840 Evo 120GB ??

It should work just dandy (except in that unidentified wacky alternate reality of which you spoke) ...

Yes the Samsung EVO will be compatible with the fx-8320

The samsung EVO is also much faster than the Kingston Hyper X SSD :)

There should be no compatibility issues with the Samsung.

That being said, I would take the Samsung due to it's superior reliability, and faster read/write speeds.

Here is something that lead me to believe that they are incompatible:http://oi39.tinypic.com/dh7d3t.jpg
Is this for something different maybe? (found in the Samsung Magician Installation manual)

You don't need the Samsung Magician software, it's pretty much bloatware. But that chart tells you that their software, Samsung Magician (not the SSD), doesn't support AMD.

That makes sense. Thank you!

A handful of options in Magician don't work (over-provisioning and rapid-mode) ... most options do, including the firmware update.

And, most importantly, the data migration tool works great.
