I am looking for some help with choosing some parts for a new pc. I already have a fractal design define r4, so i dont need a another case. Also, i have decided i want an amd build, most likely an 8 core fx processor. I have a graphics card that will last me for now. I have a few questions though.

1. I am looking for a motherboard that will overclock fairly well, and i was originally looking at the gigabyte ud5 board. Ive read some reviews that say the vcore is messed up though, so i'm a little wary at that. i also want a motherboard with a pci-e x1 before the first pci-e x16. I would be getting the asus sabertooth but it doesnt have that. for the budget, i would say max is around $200.

2. I am also looking into a closed water loop. ive read many posts about what fits in the define r4 but all of them say it depends on the motherboards heat sinks. if the heat sink is too high then a water cooler wont fit at the top. I would be able to put it as an intake but then the heat would be dumping into the case. id rather not have to mod the case for it to fit. it would be a plus if the cooler can fit on an lga 775 socket too, the computer i have now has a core 2 quad q6600 and the aftermarket cooler is pretty loud, even in the case. im fine with it if there arent any water coolers that would fit both though, i can live with the cooler now. Budget for this is max around $115.

3. is there really any difference between the 8320 and the 8350? if not, i would just buy the 8320 and make up for the lower clock speed in overclocking.

4. i have a radeon hd4890 right now, and it works well enough for me. If i pair that with an 8320 or 8350, will it be bottlenecked? i would think so. In msi afterburner i would be able to overclock, but the temps were crazy at stock clocks in my last case. i got it second hand, and the cards original fan is gone, replaced with an 80mm ontop of the shroud, so it takes up 3 slots. also, the old case had 1 80mm exhaust fan, and no cable management with a non modular psu. airflow disaster. i can also underclock the 8320/8350. anything would be better than my q6600 at 2.4ghz right now, with no overclocking options on the mb.

sorry, for the long post, i am trying to be as thorough as possible. thanks in advance for any help

for those who want to know, this is my computer right now:
CPU: intel core 2 quad q6600 @ 2.4ghz
MB: intel Schroeder town g33
RAM: 2gb ddr2 @ 800mhz i think
HDD: wd green 500gb 7200rpm
GPU: xfx radeon hd4890 (this one:

Case: fractal design define r4
PSU: bfg 400 watt? the sticker is gone, it just has bfg on the fan cover

ive used pcpartpicker before, and i know the cpu, motherboard, case, etc will work together. what i am trying to figure out in terms of parts is what motherboard will overclock the 8320 or 8350 without problems. also, if a watercooler will fit in the case as top exhaust with the motherboard. i dont think pcpartpicker gets that in-depth on compatibility. I actually already had a rough draft for a build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2tnr2
im not looking on overall build help though, thats just a rough draft of what i might want. my main questions are the mb and cooler clearence

The 8350 will overclock better due to the architecture of it. The 8320 is meant to run perfect at stock clocks. You could easily achieve 4.8 to 5 ghz.

that mobo has a PCI-Ex1 before the x16. MSI make stable mobos too good for overclocking.

As for watercooling... my best guess (coming from a guy who has never water cooled due too fear of water on my computer parts) is that they are meant to fit the specific case and mobo size. I.E. ATX mobo with ATX case. Again just an assumption

do you mean the 8320 will hit 4.8 or 5 or the 8350? i think the 8350 but just checking.

sorry, i didnt see the x1 slot. this board looks really good, i dont know how i didnt see it before. I think i'll be using this in the future. do you happen to know how tall the heatsink for the power phases are?
