First off check to make sure you have the cable properly inserted it, make sure that the cable is right side up and also that it is not off by a row on the pins, also make sure it is firmly pressed down (i have seen a few that are really tight).
If the connector is in good and it still is not detected then start troubleshooting.
Does the mic work when plugged into the back?
Is speakers detected in the front when they are plugged in?
Is the software configured correctly for the front to be a mic in port?
Does the mic work when plugged into a diffferent computer?
-Mic works when connected back
- speakers works when connected in front
- dont know about wat kind of software problem it may be
If all the tests come out good, try reinstalling the mic driver.
Otherwise it is possible that either the port on the board is defective, or the port/cable in the case could even be bad.
