Multiple Monitor Question

I am almost finished with a new pc build and the only items I have left to purchase are the GPU and monitors. I decided to go with GTX 770 (not sure which 2gb for 4gb) but I want to run at least 2 screens. I will be gaming (battlefield 4, skyrim etc) on one monitor and have the other up for work. Question is which monitor will be good for the gaming side and which one for the static? I'm okay with having two different types as long as each one does the job exceptionally well. --Another approach I could take is to use the wall mounted TV behind the desk as a work screen.-- Also, 2gb or 4gb should I shoot for, as in the future I may SLI another card and add two more gaming monitors.

Solution
http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/BDL_S27B370H_X2 If you want 2 very decent gaming monitors (can buy two seperatly if you arent in an area where the bundle is available)

http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX44904 Is the best gamer monitor you can buy for your money in terms of responsiveness, fluid motion, and will give you the highest kill:death ratio lol (also super well built and has a great stand)

http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX44024 for the most beautiful colors you have ever seen on a monitor, but will suffer a slight amount of input lag under certain conditions (not noticable in most cases, though my friend has one, and the ONLY game i notice the input lag in is the COD series)...
If you are planning to sli, go with the 4gb, as the performance from 2 of these cards will use more than the 2gb that the sli 2gb cards would allow (you need either 2 2gb cards or 2 4gb cards for sli, no interchanging memory sizes).

Please list your budget and desired screen sizes for both gaming and work monitor, as well as how readily you are to buy one monitor and use the tv behind your desk please :)

Not planning to SLI right now, as I've heard BF4 is having issues with SLI performance, and id like to stay below 450 dollars or so for a gaming monitor and pref no less than 23"…the work monitor I think I may stick with the tv because the only programs I will have running on it is an investment platform, email, Skype etc. unless I am persuaded otherwise to use an actual monitor. You still suggest the 4gb 770?

Ok, so basically the sweet spot is 27 inch monitors, and you could either get 2 decent ones, or one really great one. As far as the 770, if you do not plan on sli, do not get the 4gb as in crysis 3, you will be under 20 fps before you hit your memory limit. The 4gb variants of most of the nvidia products are primarily beneficial in sli configurations. Now ill brb as i check some monitors for you. Any preference on 60hz vs 120 hz? you sacrifice some picture quality with 120hz but basically you will play better if you are competitive (more responsive and more fluid motions in games, especially with the card you are looking at)

http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX47101 probably the best "all around" monitor. You won't really be lacking anything with this one

The list i have given you is a small one, but basically representative of a few different styles of monitors that are on the market right now. If you see one you like, but are not in the right area, copy and paste the monitor name into google and find a vendor that you can buy from

Thats my dilema, I really wanted the best of both worlds in a monitor that has good quality, good refresh rate and good response time. I feel like I'm asking for the moon, can't seem to find something with all of those aspects. Its either high performance, or insane quality… I want both >< lol

Well, the benq one is about the epitomy of all gaming monitors in that price range, while the asus is beautiful, and the samsungs are also beautiful.

Really the technology just isn't available yet to have the best of all worlds lol.

If you don't play a lot of first person shooters though, i would suggest ips for the amazing color quality that they have

I personally have the 27 inch asus one, and i have yet to really find any flaw with it. No input lag, beautiful colors, and it can be super bright, or super dim depending on what you want (yay for brightness changing). The connectivity on all these monitors for different connectors is also pretty good (the asus and benq ones are certain to come with quite a few extra cords for you)

The Asus monitor does have DVI correct? on the website it showed only hdmi and vga? The only real FPS I will be playing is BF4.

-Retract- I saw under specs they all do lol

There really is a tradeoff, your high quality, rich colour IPS monitors usually aren't the best for gaming. However, some of them are pretty good. Usually the best gaming monitors won't have the best image quality.

You need to determine which tradeoff, you're willing to make. I personally went with ex image quality and good gaming performance. But, I do a lot more photo editing than I do gaming.
