Onboard audio not working after new mobo installation.

I recently installed a new ASUS M5A99X EVO R2.0 Motherboard and an AMD FX-8350 CPU, after this installation, I got everything up and running, except for my audio! I am using the motherboards onboard HD audio. I have my HD Audio connector plugged in to the correct slot, nothing in the SPDIF out (As I have nothing to put in the SPDIF out). I am using headphones as my default audio device, and I have my onboard BIOS settings set to the HD audio, but still nothing! Please help.

maybe your motherboard is not hd audio but ac97 audio plug
  2. did you check the control panel/sound to see if it's enabled.

did you disable the hdmi hd sound that installs with your video card.
  3. The FPAC is backwards compatible so it can run AC'97 or HD, according to the Manual. I only have the HD audio connector, however.

I did check the control panel, all seems to be in order there, how would I go about disabling the HDMI HD sound?

  6. I just tinkered with some SB HD Azalia configs, and it seems to be fixed. Thank you guys for your help!

first turn of windows auto updates and auto driver updates ( 2 different things ) google it.

then go into the device manager. look form the hdmi hd audio. open it ( click on + ) if you have to. then right click and select disable. you may or may not have to reboot. think you do though.
