I'm having issues that have been there sence day one, low fps and screen tearing in most games mainly bf3 and far cry. Move the mouse around and bad screen tearing and low fps when I get into heavy action. Runs smooth on med graphics 60-30fps still screen tearing. Crank it up and 20with drops to 5fps and screen tearing.

Also get graphics driver quit responding every once in awhile

I've done things from new drivers to fresh install of windows and bios update. Even added fans to move the heat out of the case thinking the high 90c gpu temps were an issue. Now down to 80c under full load.

System specs
Asus m4n98td evo mobo
Amd phenom II 1090t 3.2ghz black eddition oc to 3.4ghz stock cooler too afraid to go higher
(2x4gb)Gskill ripsaw oc to 2000mhz
Nvidia gtx 560ti in sli
1920x1080 screen with dvi cable
Silver stone 850watt psu
2x wd 500gb sata2.0 hdd
Windows 7 home premium x64 bit

the vram on the card/s......... the graphics information is stored ion the memory on the cards. the bigger the the amount the more information can be stored. if the information has to be off loaded to the cpu cache or the HD ( the olden days ) you'll get spikes in frame rates and smooth playability will go out the window. ( i will say, that with 1gig cards I actually had a rougher time with nvidia cards than ati )........the game had to be optimized for ati (amd)......... and to this day, regardless of how good a system or how good an nvidia card, I still get annoying "graphics driver is old " update messages........ guess Ubisoft doesn't like nvidia..???

anyways, in the games control panel, .... lower the game res from 1980 res to...
Hi,

I had a similar problem before and it was my CPU overheating, had to reapply thermal paste and went from 90 degree full load to 70 (core i5)

But in your case, could be your video card sli having problem. You might want to test each card one at the time to rule out defective GPU.
How old is your PSU ?

Also, did you test your overclocking, it might get unstable after a while.

I've done a test yesterday checking each gpu separately in slot one they work the same on 3d mark vantage just a few points diff. In sli about a 20% increase.

I don't know the temp of the CPU, got a recommendation for software to check it? The fan is on full blast under load.

The psu is 1 year old.

I just set the ram to to its native clocking 1333 and CPU to stock 3.2.

The fps acts the same as well as the screen tearing. CPU fan is full blast.

Sorry the post after yours was the answer to dextermats question. I did post the link but here it is again

www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-560ti

Yes they are nvidia brand.

okay. stupid me.................. the problem is the lack of vram on the cards....... each only has 1 and 2 cards....... 1+1 still + 1 in the dual gpu world.

what farcry game is it?........... there are 3 afaik............. i might be able to help a little.................... ( FC2 )? the Africa one?

My understanding is the VRAM is only used off card one but it uses the CPU from both in sli mode. Am I correct? My pc says total available graphics ram 4094 and detected graphics ram 1024

Farcry2

anyways, in the games control panel, .... lower the game res from 1980 res to another lower option. turn off bloom and reduce the physx effects to medium. also set texture effect ( custom bar ) to high. save. play the game and see what happens.

a new 2gig amd graphics card is in your future............... a 270 would be great.

I lowered the res to 720p and put the settings like you said and it's a lot better. I just thought that those cards would be able to the job. They are 2 years old to me and at that time the 600 series was out.
