Hi,

I am looking for a WiFi adapter or a WiFi card (PCI-e). But I'm not sure what to get.

I'm looking at:

1.) TP-LINK TL-WDN4800 Dual Band Wireless N900 PCI Express Adapter, 2.4GHz 450Mbps/5GHz 450Mbps, IEEE 802.1a/b/g/n, WEP/WPA/WPA2

2.) EnGenius EUB1200AC USB 3.0 Dual Band Wireless AC1200 Adapter

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=33-168-...

3.) ZyXEL AC240 AC1200 Wireless USB3.0 Adapter

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=33-181-...

4.) D-Link DWA-182 USB 2.0 Wireless AC1200 Dual Band Adapter

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=33-127-...

5.) D-Link DWA-566 PCI Express Dual Band Wireless Adapter

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=33-127-...

Here are them all compared side by side:

Now, I think I'm torn between #1, #3, and #4. I just don't know too much about wireless adapters to know which one is better. For instance, does USB 3.0 make a huge difference compared to USB 2.0 for WiFi (as opposed to being simply a marketing trick).

Thanks a bunch

I like PCI express ones the best, if you have a free slot. The card slot has move bandwidth, and usually you get 2-3 antenna's out the back, giving a better signal as opposed to the entire thing being crammed into a USB stick. I find the USB ones just don't get the range a card does.

Hmm, I have not.

How does powerline work? Do you just plug them into different outlets and it works instantly? Where can I find out more about how powerline networking is used / how it works?
