I got this PC wireless gaming receiver for my Christmas along with my Alienware 17 gaming laptop , It connects every 1 in 60 times (roughly) I try over and over and then give up and it only connects sometimes all i need is a nice simple guide on how to SYNC the controller to the PC wireless gaming receiver not rubbish on how to install the driver software as that is all fully installed . Could someone please help me with this as I prefer using my Xbox controller as it is what I am used to , not my dual action Logitech one as it is permanently stuck in southpaw and doesn't work properly.

Thanks , hopefully I can get back to DayZ soon

1. Different USB port?
2. Reinstall USB hub controller?
3. Different computer?

Hi Sophie,

I have the fail-safe solution to this problem:
If the driver is installed, make sure you uninstall it before attempting this.
Go to device manager - If not installed correctly, shows up as an unknown device.
Right click on it and go Update Driver.
Click "Browse my computer for software".
Click "Let me pick from a list of drivers on my computer".
Once it loads, select Microsoft, then on the right, select Xbox Wireless Receiver for Windows (there might be multiple versions, go with the very bottom driver - mine was 2.1.0.1349) and click next. Ignore the warning that pops okay and install anyway.
Once it installs, you should notice a new slot - "Microsoft Common Controller for Windows Class", and under it, "Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows".
Now try pairing your controller with the receiver. Click the button on the receiver, then hold the big Xbox button on the controller until it turns on and press the very small "connect" button on the forward side of the controller (the side with the triggers), while the receiver light is still flashing. Your controller controller will then sync.

I've done this so many times now I don't even think about it anymore. Every time you unplug that receiver and then move it to another port or something, it needs to have the driver installed again...
