I'm currently running a 965 on an Asus M5A78L-M/USB3 Mobo and I'm considering upgrading to an i5 4670k on an ASRock z87 extreme3 or 4. Is this going to be worth my money seeing as I haven't had any issues with my current setup?

Some background; I'm basically in the process of future proofing myself, having recently bought a Gigabyte GTX670 and a 128GB SSD (should maybe have stretched to a 240GB but I'll cope).

Also, is there any reason to buy the z87 extreme4 over the extreme3 bearing in mind the 3 has as many SATA, USB3 and PCI-E ports as I'm ever going to need, and I'm not planning doing so much hardcore OCing that the extra power phases are going to be that important?

The 4670k would definitely be a great upgrade to complement your gtx 670. You'll be getting somewhere in the ballpark of double the performance over the Phenom.

Cheers, that's pretty much in line with what I'd hoped. I know this is the wrong section, but do you have any input on the z87 Extreme3 vs Extreme4 question?

The extreme 4 has an extra PCI gen 3 x16 slot, some more sata ports and some more USB 3 ports.
