Hi everyone,

I'm trying to setup a wired internet connection by connecting my PC to a router using a cat5 cable. After it's been connected, my PC doesn't seem to detect the wired connection. This is my first time setting up a wired internet connection, is there anything on the PC that i need to configure so i can connect to the internet using the cat5 cable?

OS: windows 7

Yes, you need the drivers for that device. Once correctly installed it should auto-detect.
Look up the drivers from your motherboard manufacturers website, or the disk that came with the board.

Actually it may not be. I went into the device manager and it showed "Ethernet Controller" with a yellow mark next to it. Is that the network card you're talking about?

I've never actually installed a network card software on this computer. I've been connecting to the internet via a USB adapter. The motherboard I bought came with a socket which lets me plug in the cat5 cable, so that's what I tried to use to connect to the router. Do I need to buy a separate network card to connect to the internet using the cat5 cable?
