Hello guys. So after some great advice here and my own research/thinking I decided to build my own PC instead of buying OEM. I was trying to avoid doing it again but the value/customization is attractive. This will be soley for gaming.

My build is below, any advice would be great. My biggest question at this point is between the two GPUs I have listed below, which would be optimal? Thanks.

Intel i5 3470 Ivy Bridge 3.2 Ghz
Zotac Nvidia GTX 760 ($229) vs Powercolor Radeon HD 7870 ($189)
WD Blue 1TB HDD
EVGA 500W Bronze cert PSU
ASRock Z75 Pro 3 LGA 1155 Intel Motherboard
8GB Vulcan RAM

The Powercolor has no reviews on Newegg and it appears to be different from what Powercolor used to have available for this card (old: http://; new: http://), so I am a bit sketched out on it. Otherwise I think the 7870 would be fine for my gaming needs and I would be up for saving some cash.

Does everything look clear here? I know 500w on the PSU is a bit low but the system builder marathon article here said the PSU I have would be fine with a similar build to what I have. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Looks great, the 7870 is a great card, PowerColor is a good brand. The PSU will be fine, it is an 80+ bronze which means it is efficient. Nothing to worry about on the 7870, it is the same chip as every other 7870.

GTX 760 is faster than a 7870. It is about even with a 7950. AMD has left a bit of a gap with the R9 270x and R9 280x. Hopefully they make something like a 275x to replace the 7950.

Thanks! With the free games code Nvidia is giving away with the card I think I will stick with the GTX 760.
