Okay my sister has been having problems on her ACER-4808 TimelineX laptop. A few months back in college, when we were visiting her apartment, a white line began to appear. Now, we did have a problem when my accidental dilly dallying ended up getting the screen cracked and replaced after a huge white-out of nearly the entire screen. Once it was replaced and fixed, everything was back to normal, crystal clear for a few months, until the white line appeared. We hooked it up to a separate monitor and the white line disappeared, eliminating any internal GPU problems, as told by another source of mine. We then re-opened the monitor screen, took it out, brushed it off, and replugged it back in, and it was still there. We even checked the back of the monitor, AND the screen for any signs of damage; None. So now I believe it's Software related problems and if you have anything to say or add on. Please do as I'm outta ideas.

Just my two cents, if it were a software issue, it would not go away by plugging into an external display. It would be the same software producing the image. It could just be an issue with the new laptop monitor - either the monitor itself or the connection wires/plugs.

So I guess I can't think of anything else it could be. So a new monitor T^T

Possibly this one is under warranty still? If you trust the people at the shop you had it replaced you may want to ask if there was something they could think of (other than replacing the monitor ;)  )

It's still under warranty. I don't know, we'll see.
