I'm a noob when it comes to home built rigs (I'm used to those prebuilt things)
I saw an option in my BIOS that is not in the manual. It says CPU Upgrade and lists a series of i7 CPUs. Is this something like unlocking cores on AMD chips or is it just telling me what CPU I want but don't have (haha).

Also, if I did select this option, would I risk not being able to boot and have to reset the BIOS?

Intel laser cuts their cpus. Amd does too with the exception of those older cpus. The cpu upgrade option is the automatic oc profiles selection. Although you should also have a "performance boost" or "performance upgrade" option that also deals with the auto oc function. There's also a "memory upgrade" option on the memory tab that is similar. Not the smartest name choice or really a useful feature but it is what it is.
