Cyclic redundancy check error in external hard disk

My iomega ext hard disk has a cyclic redundancy check error and windows suggest to format the disk. I did a chkdsk. After the chkdsk process was completed, it displayed 9% completed and 50 bad files of 89 files. In short, the chkdsk did not fix the problem. Please help to provide suggestions. Thank you in anticipation.

  1. Test the drive with SeaTools for Windows: http://www.seagate.com/gb/en/support/downloads/item/seatools-win-master/

If the test reports any errors or failures, the drive will have to be replaced with a new one.
