I have a sea gate hard drive and for some reason my system wont even recognize it. I have tried it on a couple of other lap tops but get the same result. Is my hard drive and its contents gone for ever or can I do something to recover it, 3 years of work on there Im keen to get back..

There is no way to recover the data if a computer won't recognise the drive, unless you are willing to pay a lot of money to a data recovery specialist.
It's never a good idea to put all your data on only one hard drive. You should have made backup copies on another drive.

If the drive doesn't spin up, then I'd suspect a PCB fault on the HDD itself. If so, then examine the drive's protection diodes, especially if it has been overvolted with the wrong adapter.
