ok so this came with the laptop i bought and its only 1 stick of 4gb ram, I was going to buy a 2nd stick to equal 8gb of ram but should i replace this stick as well?

the only real thing i notice is that the ram speed is pretty low.... Usually i see 1333 mhz and higher so just wanted to hear some opinions on this particular stick

and if you could give me a quick tip on how to upgrade a ram stick? I know how to do the install but im referencing like are all the stick sizes the same? just learning as i go here really.

Solution
The DRAM you have is 1600 - the 800 indicated is True freq and this is DDR (DOUBLE data rate) so take true freq x 2 to find a sticks effective of 1600 - also is indicated by the 12800 rating which is for 1600 sticks of running 12800 MT/s

Minimum CAS# Latency Time (tAAmin): 13.125 ns

Well the reason i posted it on here is that im familiar that most ram speeds are 1333mhz - 1600mhz but this one is 800.......

Kinda slow?

I am not sure if two 800's would equal to 1600 or if each one should be in that higher range im mentioning...

"I am planning on buying two together with much faster speeds hopefully both of them 1333mhz or more. Is this the way Ram works or ? I also know the higher the number in Latency the slower it moves but this one i have gives me multiple numbers....

so the one stick of ram I have is damn good then your saying basically...

I didn't know that you had to multiply the freq. by 2 but now I do. If I open up the laptop the stick should say 1600 im assuming? Every stick I see online says 1333 or 1600 on it.

So I just need to buy another 4gb 1600 stick to make the machine go faster

hey man I really appreciate your help, I have been on here recently asking a bunch of different questions trying to figure some stuff out here and on youtube.

I was gonna build a mini itx pc with a cooler master 130 (love this thing) but I am trying to fix my laptop first, it is pretty damn powerful as is but there are things I want to fix that aren't working properly and sadly I don't know all I need to.
