My friend said he would donate AROUND £450 to my new computer, (as a thank you for saving his dogs from a car accident lol)

Heres my specs now:

Tower: Haf 922

Windows 7 64-bit

CPU:Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 @ 2.83GHZ

RAM: 4.00 GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 399MHz

Motherboard: ASUSTeK Computer INC. P5Q PRO TURBO (LGA 775)

Graphics Card: (1440x900@60Hz) 1023MB GeForce GTX 550 Ti (EVGA)
*****************************

So what I was thinking of buying was:

i7 4770K

MSI Gaming MOBO HOWEVER, there is another version which is cheaper.

Can someone help me decide which mobo is better value and why?

Lastly

Some 16gb ram

So yeah. I'm open to changing some stuff. I'd prefer not to go over the prices established in my choices so no going nuts haha XD

Also a graphics card recommendation would be nice as well.

Thankyou all, and a happy new year!

~Peace~

Sorry, I should have mentioned. No I dont, already got a decent one. Will worry about that one later.
I have 650watt Corsair. And I dont really mind, but I'd prefer it to be a UK dealer. And I dont really touch AMD that much.

And I'm going to use this strictly for gaming. I know what people say about i7 cpu's for gaming, but I'd prefer to have a beefy rig which will last me a while, and I want to play DayZ, which is extremely cpu heavy.

Thanks.

i5 is still more than enough, I haven't had a single game that has choked on mine yet, also get 8GB of RAM then put the savings into a higher end card, with £450 I'd get something like an FX 8000 series or i5 with a R9 280x.

Honestly their is no need for an i7 4770k as they offer about the same in gaming performance, rather go with an i5 if you are on a strict budget like you are. Besides you would have to sacrifice allot on the gpu which makes the biggest difference in gaming. Also, no need for 16gb ram as games wont even utilize it

Heres an intel build..........

The difference between the two is that the AMD build has a much faster graphics card which is more important
If you are overclocking, then I recommend a cooler for both of these builds

Thanks for the very detailed answer. This will help a lot my friend.
Ok, this may complicate matters slightly. My friend is looking to to get rid of his old stuff as he's getting some new stuff. He's got that motherboard and he might give it to me for free. If thats the one you recommend, where would you put that extra money?

I'm inclined to spill out on a nvidia card haha. And I dont intent to overclock, or watercool.

I think its this one

And I've decided on getting the Gigabyte R9 280X 3072 MB GDDR5 for my GPU. Does this mobo support this card?

Thanks.

That motherboard is fine, just don't overclock with it, and since you are getting it for free :D

The R9 280X will work fine with that motherboard and is a good choice

I updated your list, kept everything the same but excluded the motherboard and added a cooler since the AMD stock coolers are a bit crappy and loud
