I just found out that my mobo only supports AM3+ 95W and not 125W. Should I spend more for a better board and an FX-8320, or just get an FX-6300?

Can anyone show me performance differences between the two procs in gaming, video editing, photoshop, and 3d rendering? Thank you.

Well the wires touching the fins have minimal to no effect. The board is a basic budget board with limitations on overclocking and expandability.
It is your money we are talking about here and there is no question that the FX8320 and a better board will do better on your tasks but the FX6300 will work in your current board so really it is your finances that is the deciding factor and you will have to make the ultimate decision!

Well my current board is the Asrock N68 VS3 FX. Kindly take a look at where the 24 pin ATX power connector is located. I also have a big CPU cooler and the wires are currently touching the aluminum fins....

Do you already have a cpu and if so what is it? Why the upgrade anyway?

Beware that with that board you need to flash the bios to the latest version for a Fx 6300.

If you think you need another motherboard and can buy it than that would probably better, especially when you want to be able to overclock in the future.
