You should deside on how much memory you want, whether registered or unbuffered, whether ECC or non-ECC.

Intel lists the Xeon CPU as supporting:
Max Memory Size (dependent on memory type) 384 GB
Memory Types DDR3-800/1066/1333
# of Memory Channels 4

Asus lists the motherboard as supporting:
8 x DIMM, Max. 64GB, DDR3 2133(O.C.)/2000(O.C.)/1866/1600/1333/1066 MHz ECC, Non-ECC, Un-buffered Memory
ECC Memory Supported Yes
For Registered Memory, Max. 256GB DDR3 1866/1600/1333/1066/800 MHz

E5-2600 series CPU support DDR3-2133(O.C)/2000(O.C)/1866(O.C)/1600/1333/1066 MHz
E5-2600 V2 series CPU support DDR3-1866/1600/1333/1066 MHz

Thanks Calvin7! I'm planning to have 64gb for my ram. is there a big difference between ECC or non-ECC for 3d applications? Most of the time I will using it for 3d modeling and rendering of architectural scenes.
