Ok guys I have to RMA my 7870 and i'm using the integrated graphics of my 3570 non k to see the screen, watch youtube etc, but I want to know if the 3570 can handle some games on a temporary basis.

What I'm mainly concerned about is does using the igpu weaken/ shorten the life of the gpu? If so will a week or two (RMA turn around time) of gaming on the igpu really have a bad effect on the cpu?

The game i'm mainly concerned about FFXIV: ARR. If anybody has played this game on the HD 4000 can you let me know what resolution and setting you've played it at that produced a decent frame rate (30+).

If this game is not playable, let me know some that are. Thanks for any info

Solution
The best thing to do is to try it.
Perhaps you might need to reduce the eye candy or resolution. I have had no problem playing civ4 using HD4000
Fast action will be another matter.

And... do not worry about longevity.

I play at 1080p, but I'm cool playing it at 720 on low for a couple weeks til 7870 comes back. Thanks for the heads up. Left 4 Dead is not really demanding, might play that with my cousin who i'm trying to get into pc gaming.
