PCIe Slots (x16) and (x1)

Hey guys,

I was just wondering what the difference between PCIe Slots (x1) and (x16) were as shown on this computer in the expansion slot on it:

PCIe x16 is the longest and fastest and is normally used for GPUs. PCIe x1 is the shortest, slowest and normally used by slower peripherals such as sound cards, NICs etc.

A X16 slot is for a discrete graphics card.
The x1 slots are for add in cards.
