Speakers buzzing but not headphones?

I have a set of speakers, 5 and a subwoofer made by logitech. When I plug them into my PC using the earphone jack front or back it buzzes very loud. I've tried plugging the computer into different outlets same with the speakers.
I've even tried plugging the speakers in when the PC is turned off and unplugged after a power drain and it will buzz even if I'm touching the computer with the speaker cord in my hand.

If I use these speakers on anything else such as plugging them into my WDTV they work perfect.

If I plug earphones into the jacks on my PC they work fine.

I thought there was something wrong with the motherboard until I tried the headphones with the PC. I've formatted recently but no difference.

I have no idea what might be causing it, anyone have any ideas?

This could just be a wild guess but the speakers I use on my PC give a loud buzzing anytime I have certain electronics nearby. Is there anything on your desk or near your speakers that may be doing this?

I thought that too so I moved the PC to another room and tried it, same thing. There's really nothing near it besides the monitor and modem.

I went back and re-read your post. You mentioned that the speakers buzz even if the computer is turned off but you touch it. That almost sounds like some sort of short with the speakers. Do you have another device you can plug them into to verify that they are the problem?

I'm going to test that out tomorrow, hopefully that's all it is. I've never ran into a problem like this before.

** Turned out it was the speakers, they worked fine on the WDTV but no the pc for whatever reason, thanks for the suggestion.
