As far as I know the Xeon is a server processor and won't be good for gaming. Whereas there is no other CPU better than an I5 for gaming.
Not sure though but yeah if you wan't to game go for the I5.

Xeon is like an i7 with HT without an integrated gpu. They are the same gen. although that xeon is running a little slower 3.3 vs 3.4 Ghz

I dunno according to my research if you are a plain hardcore gamer an I5 4670k is what you're looking for and after you overclock it
you are surely going to be futureproof. I'd go for the I5 anyday. If you have a motherboard that supports overclocking in an I5 like the Z78 motherboards I'd say the I5 competes the I7 in gaming.
