Hey guys, first off, i want to say cheers for 2014 an all.

Everytime I play Dx11 games on my PC the aspect ratio turns weird , specially when I switch over to higher resolutions such as 720p, my monitor's native resolution is 1024x768, but i was able to add custom resolutions using the Custom Resolution Utility Tool (CRU). Whem my game resolution is 768p, at 4:3, everything's perfectly fine, but when i switch to 720p or higher the screen is streched horizontally making scopes look elongated, this doesnt happen in dx9 but does on dx10-11. i have a dx11 capable GPU BTW. Thanks in advance. Cheers

Solution

If the aspect ratio is correct with 720p, it either has black bars at the top and...
happy new year man!
always play with the same resolution with your desktop.most games run on fixed resolutions and not on custom ones.if can choose the ratio you mast choose the correct one.720p is not 4:3 you can find 16:9 and 16:10 on wide screen monitors.you must play on 1024x768 4:3

but when I use dx9 on bad company 2 for example and set 720p as game resolution it displays the correct 16:9 ratio, i just had to adjust the monitor settings a little bit, just a little bit such as view height and width. when i set the game back to dx11, the display becomes elongated. hmmm. maybe i just really need to get a new monitor, anyway, thanks man.

If the aspect ratio is correct with 720p, it either has black bars at the top and bottom, or it is not actually using 720p. Even if it is doing the black bar thing, it is downscaling to do so. Stick with your native resolution, or try 1024x576.
