Help with memory ...
Recently started to get the blue screen of death. After swapping current memory cards around in the 2 slots we think we have figured out that one of the slots on the motherboard is bad. PC runs fine on 1 memory stick.

Currently have:
Windows 7
Motherboard: ASUS M4A78LT-M LE
Memory is: 2G DDR3 1600MHz

Motherboard can be upgraded to 8G total. So since only one memory slot is working we decided to get a 4G. Found a Corsair that was on our "approved vendor list". We went to install the new stick into the working slot and it will not boot up. PC continues to work the old 2G memory stick, but is slow.

Help would like to upgrade with new stick to at least have 4G. Any suggestions? Does there have to be changes made in the BIOS? Any testing we can do?

Okay - so for whatever reason I don't see the ASUS Utility under my programs (as it says in the ASUS Motherborad manual). So I went to the ASUS website and found several BIOS versions to download. I am pretty sure we have never updated the BIOS, PC purchased in 2010. Should we just pick the latest version dated 10.18.2012?

Well the ASUS site provides a download, which was downloaded to the PC, but it is a ROM file extension and will not open, run or there is no program installed on the PC to run it.
