Hi There! I'm planning to upgrade my old
workstation.. here is my questions is it better to get 128gb SSD for my OS and 3d apllications + WD green for project file or is it better to get 1tb WD black? my concern is about when opening my project files that are saved in WD green maybe it takes time to open?

Thanks

The current typical configuration consists of a SATA3 6Gb/s 256GB solid state drive for the Operating System, applications, and utilities and a hard disk drive for storing data files.

A 120GB ssd used to be the "sweet spot". Due to falling prices the 256Gb ssd's are now considered to be the best value. They can sometimes be found on sale for just a little bit over $0.50 USD per GB.

I normally recommend Samsung solid state drives. Samsung ssd's perform exceptionally well and have a proven track record. Intel, Crucial, and Plextor are also worth considering. Recently the new SanDisk ssd's have been coming on strong.

I maintain the ssd database listed in a sticky at the very top of this forum section. Here is the link...

For the past 6 years I have been installing Western Digital Black hard disk drives as secondary drives in my personal pc's and customer pc's. So far, none of them have gone bad. For heavy duty professional workloads you might want to consider a Western Digital enterprise hard drive.
