I am a ATT DSL customer contemplating a switch to Comcast HS internet. Currently my Westel Dual Speed modem/router. It handles all of the networking traffic on my internal network and out to the ISP. It is connected to a Linksys 6 port un-managed switch, which is used to make connections to a wireless access point, several computers, smart TV's Sprint AirRave etc. All of this works really well at 1.5mbs but I want to go faster.
I am considering the purchase of a Motorola SB6121 as it appears to be a top rated modem.
My biggest concern is the router function. What would be needed to serve as the router?

You are going to need a router with ethernet wan port....this is the most common kind of router. You could also buy the motorola gateway..i forget the model number. It is the modem and router in the same physical device.

Which way you go is mostly personal preference
