Mic not working through front panel audio with sound card

I have an Asus DGX 5.1 sound card, however my microphone isn't working for some reason. I have my cases HD audio plugged into the card in order for me to be able to use it, however it isn't working. Does anyone have a solution? E.g it's on the wrong source or whatever. Thanks.

check in the sound card utility its expecting an analogue and not digital input if that option exists, also go in to your sound oprions, then the recording tab, and make sure the correct input is set as default and that you can see the green light coming on when you make sound.

some programs like skype will let you select which sound input to use in their options too.
