The motherboard is compatible. The only problem is that the motherboard has USB 3.0 headers while the case doesn't. You might want to get a different case like the NZXT Source 220.

Its ok if the case doesn't have USB 3.0 ports. He can still access the USB 3.0 ports from the motherboard at the back of the case.

I think he should go with an XFX 550W PSU to give him a bit more room to upgrade in the future.
