Hi all I recently built a computer and my audio will only work through my hdmi which is through my video card. My mobo will not recognize my sound card, in my device manager it has a "multimedia audio device" under "other devices" and when i tried to locate the drovers for it it couldnt do it. Also the audio wont even work through my mobo. Ive installed all drivers from both my mobo cd and gigabytes website (mobo is gigabyte z87-ud4h). When i plug my speakers into the rear outputs of the mobo, my computer has a box pop up saying that it knows i plugged something in and also the green bar in the volume control moves like its playing sound. It simply wont actually play sound. Im beyond confused. I dissabled the NVIDIA (video card) and the intel audio so i dont think its a conflict...

please help its been weeks and im going crazy. I dont know if its the mobo pci slot or the sound card but even aside from all that, the mobo wont play sound either. Ive tried headphones and speakers so its not that. I make changes in both the realtek manager and the audio device manager on the computer, im very thorough at what ive been doing.

PHEWWWWW. So when i plug in to the rear of the mobo a realtek box comes up where i can select:

line in
mic in
headphone
front speaker out
rear speaker out
center/sub out
side out

and ive been choosing center/sub cuz i have a 2.1 system. apparently i had to choose front speaker out for some reason and it works now.

still have my sound card issue though, i think it might just be a faulty sound card cuz like i said, there is a generic audio device being recognized so that leads me to believe its not the pci port/mobo.

try, looking for a disk that came with your sound card, for the drivers, or possibly un plugging and re plugging in the sound card maybe there is a weak connection or it is in wrong, also i think you did this before but try this, go to Start > Type Change sound card settings > And click on the soundcard and hit set default. hope this helps.

funny thing is i put the disc in and there was no driver for windows 8. I thought it was odd but i just went to the asus website and installed the windows 8 drivers from there. I uninstalled and reinstalled them several times as well as removing it from the pci slot.

Well with my Gigabyte UD3H, i was unable to get a PCI Wireless card due to a conflict, try contacting the people you purchased the Sound card from, also try contacting Gigabyte, see if they may already have this issue figures out.
